Weekly Report w13 - Q1 2021

Word of the Week - Recollection - Previous week was dedicated to client work and gather thoughts on the last quarter. A lot has happened, a lot has been made.

Over Q1 2021 I laid down the groundwork for the project.

  • In January I wrote the first guides on how we will be approaching the project from the point of Art, Music, Tech, and other.

  • In February I was working on developing visual aspects of the dDelta

  • In March I was producing the work for the prototype.

All the while I was also doing client work. Sometimes it affected the progress on the band project, other times it didn't. Either way, this supports my life and the progress of the project.

The next week will be dedicated to the realignment of the project and finishing some client work. The next report will thus focus on the next quarter.

What worked well

  • An extremely good idea was to write weekly reports. It helps my motivation in order to always have something to show the next week.

  • Having a Term plan is also a good way to keep me on the roadmap, although timings might change. Plans also change (March was entirely re-planned), but it helps to have some plan rather than none.

  • Setting time aside for client work was so far also a good thing - it puts some of the pressure to get a regular job away. I’m not making positive-sum yet, but I’m not going too rapidly into the negatives yet either. This is for now expected and acceptable, maybe partially welcome, because of the slight pressure to keep the project rolling faster.

What can be improved

  • Trying to stick strictly to the timeline proved to be a bad idea when I see that things might not work out. Mental health is important and I intend to take more care of it in the future.

  • While I’ve always known that hard work itself isn’t going to cut the deal, I’ll need to develop new creative ways to present my work in the best light.

  • I will need to make more connections with people in the industry to either contribute to the project or connect me with more people.

  • In order to better focus on the project, I’ll have to limit my availability to the outside world in the morning and early afternoon. More often than I have expected, a conversation has taken my focus away for the rest of the day.

  • Narrowing the context and my explanation on which fronts the project is solving a problem is something I want to improve on, too.
