When at the end of the year 2021 it was clear that the next elections (April 2022) will be the political equivalent of Wild West in Slovenia, we were faced with a decision. Stand back, look at the theatre, and comment in the end, or - do something. After a quick glance at the roster of political parties we can choose from, Pirates seemed to be the choice to pick.

LoFi Girl, or “lofi hip hop radio - beats to relax/study to” is one of the more famous streams on YouTube in recent years. In July 2022 the stream was temporarily taken down, which sent waves through the internet. This was the inspiration behind the artwork, which aimed to see what can be done in 3D, to capture the coziness of the already legendary artwork.

The story behind this image starts way differently than what we see. For my own portfolio I wanted to add a product render of a fictional object. Over time the story behind the object came to be, however, it was much more interesting than the product render I just made. I couldn’t leave it at that. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

The main subject I wanted to express in my design of Bast was to be true to the original story of Bast (or Bastet), but still narrative. Most of designs I’ve seen in Character Design Challange were technically immaculate, but lacked the narrative depth.
