Weekly Report 2021 w10
March 8. - March 13.
Word of the Week: Numbers Management - I was spread too thin over too many things last week. Let’s keep going.
Last week non-band related things took a significant amount of time. On the project matters, I focused on the stage design for the prototype.
One thing that I noticed, however, was that I wasn't as focused or, in other words, I was spread thin over the commitments I took on. Some of them - such as client work - are essential for the project's survival; some are very subtle and don’t look like much, but they took my attention away from the project. The I-said-yes-to-too-many-things issue, on top of the usual factors. The good news is that creatively I'm very well and ready to make good things.
The challenge is now that I need to kick the pace up and deliver because the programming team is going to work with what they get. At the same time, I need to keep up with my commitments to other matters. I need to look into what I will reduce.
Lessons:
- By natural cycle, my most productive hours come in the early afternoon and last until around 17:00...
- ... therefore, If I make an appointment too early in the afternoon it's likely that I'll not get much done before that appointment either.
- No matter how small of a commitment it is, it'll take a certain minimum of energy to do.
