Word of the Week: Prototyping - That's what we're all about in March. Pre-prototyping, but it always starts somewhere!
Last week was very exciting - I've had a meeting with the developers about how we're going to proceed with the development of the very first prototype. The meeting was brief but very productive and I'm excited to see that overall effectiveness in many meetings is going up. Not that it's the only, not even the main motive, but I'm just happy when in the end I can say "it was fun, productive and we've both added to the project".
I've then added further details about the flow of the interface and over the next week I need to prepare materials for the scene. I'll start with watching the episode of Abstract: The Art of Design about the stage design featuring Es Devlin.
I've also worked on a client project and at the end of the week I was unfortunately burdened by a tootache that started on the Thursday afternoon but has been taken care of at the time of writing the report.
Lesson: I have written down on wednesday "wanting -> intending -> attempting -> doing".
It came to me as a realisation, that so often I talk to people about - for example - what I'm doing. Or what I'm about to do. It's nothing short of ridiculous, how often times they tell me that they "want" to do something, too. It's more ridiculous that over half of them don't seem to realise, that just wanting to do something doesn't bring the results to them! Our brain tricks us that wanting something and doing it are nearly the same thing.
Of course, I fall victim to this trickery, too! It took everything for me to finally venture on the path of developing this project, to do whatever it takes to bring it into reality. For so long, I thought that I'm already doing it by just wanting to do it. There are areas in my life where this is still very present, so I'll track that closer; for my own wellbeing and wellbeing of my close ones.
