Weekly Report 2021 w02

Before we start: Yes, there never was w01 report, because it only came to my mind to write the weekly reports in the second week of 2021.

Report FAQ

Word of the week: Prioritisation - Every day was productive so far, but some of the days weren't quite as productive for the band project. It's because I might have started the day with one of the other things than Band Project. Sometimes that's a good thing, sometimes it's jsut a neccessary thing. But it's a Band Project report, so, that's the pudding.

January is dedicated to get as much of the content that's tumbling around my head to be written down. The project is in the making for quite a while now, but a lot of it still resides (only) in my head. In order for this to become a part of everyone's reality, this needs to change, and it starts with this.

Since I never wrote a report for 2021 Week 01, here's a quick rundown: I've written a basic guide for art style and branding. Both of those could be and will be expanded, but the intent in fact is to start with something. The expansion itself is meant to be made during March 2021. One workday was spent for a business meeting for a project that showed promise at first, but was scrapped quickly thereafter.

Week 02: The goal of the week was to write a bit about how we're going to work on both music and software for the project; and how they'll work together. One aspect was definitely to visualise the software intefrace, which was somewhat successful. The second bit was to write about music and I managed to write something, too. Again, I fell short of time to do it as I'd want to; but I do have something to expand on. I spent a day of the week to finalize a Logo guide for my business partner (it turned out amazing!). Another day was dedicated for making prospects with another potential client, this one is so far showing quite some potential.

Lessons of the first two weeks:

- In order to "properly" cover the artistic/visual aspect of the band, I haven't dedicated enough time to it, same goes for music and software.

= I half expected this, but I decided to keep it that way in order to 'keep moving'. More on that soon.

- I haven't accounted (much) for the 'unexpected'. I had a meeting with someone on wednesday, so wednesday's plan wasn't fulfilled. Friday's plans were also postponed for another technical reason (too long of an explanation to be viable).

= For now, I need to find other ways to fund my progress, and that meeting was created to find a possibility of making income. Soon after the meeting it became apparent that's not going to be net positive endavour money wise. It was net positive endavour, however, to narrow down my area of focus and displayed how 'expensive' a meeting can be if it's not definitely aimed to be net positive from the get-go.

- As I'm writing things down, more of the same gets created. When I write about art, I realise how much more I need to write about art, for example. More on that in the next bullet point.

- it was definitely a good idea to in fact NOT dedicate enough time to every side of the band project. The first goal is to make something to work with later on.

= If I took care of the art side until it's "good enough" I would have not moved to the next big chapter for another two months, and the standard for 'good enough' would have kept going up anyway. Not to mention I would come up with new content as I move through.

- Time plan was very likely among the top 3 most important things I've done for the project.

= It helps me to make sure that things are moving forward, even when they are not perfect.
